WM Fanatics Challenge 10

Image
Hi There, Today I am participating in the Waltzingmouse Fanatics Challenge #10 . I can't believe they are on thier 10th challenge.  I think I have participated in all of them; boy, time sure flies. This time around they are doing a sketch challenge: This was a tough one for me.  Pretty quickly, I had an idea in my mind of which stamps I was going to use and somewhat of a design.  I made a card, walked away for a bit, came back and took another look at it.   Yuck, that was the end of that card.  Tore it apart and started over. This is what I ended up with:  Not my favorite card ever, but it'll do. I love these stamps and dies from Waltzingmouse stamps.  Love that cloud background, it is so subtle.  Some embossing and a sentiment, and voila! Thanks for stopping by, Ang

Meet Genevieve

Image
I couldn't not make another one of these adorable pigs:  I made this one for my sister.   Her husband is french, so I thought a little french gal was appropriate. My sister chose the name Genevieve, perfect!   A little beret and scarf:   And, again, last but not least:  These fun softies are designed by Helen at Bustle and Sew .   I have no affiliation, other than I just adore her patterns.   She has lots of cute stuff. Sizzix Framelit Thinlits

I think that is what they are called.   Too many names, I can't keep them all straight. I have one of the Stephanie Barnard designs.   I made a couple of cards with it recently: I realized that I could add a little bit more on the right side of the center flip part and they would still flip open properly. Used my beloved W+9 stamps.  Man, I cannot get enough of these stamps; love them. A couple of close ups: These were really pretty simple, once the stamping was done. These dies even cut the layering pieces on the sides.  Ran those thru with a couple of different embossing folders.  This is such a simple way to add depth and texture! I also used some bias tape binding that I got.  I love the weight and texture of this stuff. These will be going out, to a couple of friends, in a week or so. Thanks for visiting, Ang

Just for Fun!

Image
No challenges, today I made this card just for the fun of it!  Just because I wanted to use this new stamp. A little cup of coffee and some pretty blue steam bubbles. What more could you ask for? It's already on its way to someone.   Have a good one, Ang

New Card Concept Challenge

Image
Hey there, Found a brand new (not just to me) challenge, The Card Concept Challenge .   One of the requirements is that we choose one of the  design categories they use.   For their first challenge they have provided this photo along with the colors: I absoultely love that photo.  I don't have any stamps that I think could do it justice so I decided to go in another direction.  I tried to capture the verticality of it and, of course, use the colors supplied:  It really is a pretty simple card for me and I would have to say it falls under the Clean and Graphic category.  I always have a tough time defining the style of my cards and scrapbooking.  I think my style is best called eclectic.  If you look around on my blog you will see that I am all over the place.  My style depends mostly on my mood when I am creating.  My thought process, in general, is pretty much all over the place so it probably makes sense.  I think most people would call me scatter brained!  Lu

House of Cards Jan Challenge #1

Image
Hi Everyone,   Today I have my first card up at HOC as a DT member. Here is the sketch: I am so excited.  It was actually supposed to post last Monday, but being new to the whole DT thing, I completely ignored the instructions and  missed the posting altogether.  Live and learn. This is actually a card/gift in one.  I have had the cameo pin for a few years and thought it would be perfect for the Shabby Vintage theme of the challenge. I have always loved cameos.   This one is given a little bit of a modern twist; made into a pin with beads and chain.  Love it! Thanks for stopping by, be sure and check out all the inspiration over at HOC . Ang

Handmade Christmas

Image
This is a little late, oh well. A couple of years ago I decided to make most of my gifts  for family and friends.  I actually succeeded this year.   I really enjoy it.  The planning, creating and giving of a homemade gift makes me really happy. This year my favorite was this little guy:  Is he adorable or what?  Look at that nose. The designer probably intended it for kids but my sister in law loves pigs so I couldn't resist.   His designer is Helen over at Bustle and Sew .  I have been following her blog for a while, she posts lots of crafty stuff.  She also has an e-magazine that I subscribed to a couple of months ago.  She lives in the UK and the magazines are not only filled with patterns, she also includes little stories from the town she lives in.   I find it very charming, check it out. So back to the little guy.  I have never made a softie before.   He was so easy and fun to make, I already have plans for my next one.  He is pretty small, about 8&q

WM Fanatics & Freshly Made Sketch

Image
Two challenges today with this card:   First up: Freshly Made Sketches #118 using this sketch:  I really like the simplicity of it. Secondly:  Waltzing Mouse Fanatics Challenge #9 . This photo was provided, but the main criteria is to use fabric: My card: There is a little bit of burlap behind the WMS flower.  I like bling in small doses.  I debated about adding the sequins but since these Avery Elle kraft ones are so subtle I decided to give it a go.  Glad I did. It is barely noticeable, but I wove white embroidery thread around the edge of the burlap.  Thanks for stopping by, see you soon. Ang

Shabby Tea Room #200

Image
Hi there,   Today I am participating in The Shabby Tea Room's 200th challenge . Love this gorgeous inspiration photo:   My card: Lots of paper piecing and a little glitter on the Flourishes Rose. The patterned papers are Prima.  I knew I wanted some glossy white on my card, inspired by the shelf spindles.  The rose is stamped on glossy paper.  I was a little uncomfortable at first combining white and ivory but I am really happy with the way it came out. Some of the embellishments are pretty old from my stash.   Love using that stuff up. Thanks for visiting, Ang

WMS Fanatics #8

Image
Yay, I finally got some new Waltzing Mouse Stamps.   They arrived yesterday just in time to play along with the current challenge .   This time it is a color challenge:  Here is my card:  Folk Art Medallion is one of my new sets.   This set is huge and jam packed with stamps, love it!  One of the reasons I rarely get rid of crafting stuff; these black jewels have probably been in my stash for 10 years.  I usually use round gems.  I thought they were perfect for this image. Love the font. See you soon, Ang

PB Fusion

Image
Hi, I have a card that I am submitting to 2 new (to me) challenges today. First up is the Fusion Card Challenge #1 .  This is a fun one, you can use either the sketch, photo or both.     Second, the Penny Black Sending Hugs Challenge .  We are to use PB stamps and a friendship or love theme.  I had these Penny Black stamps sitting on my desk because I wanted to use them and then this challenge caught my eye.  Perfect! Here is my card:  Not quite the Fusion sketch, but certainly the colors.  I have trouble using sketches with repeating shapes like the three circles, they never seem to work out for me. A little bit of Lindy's Stamp Gang spray on the vase.   I wanted it to have the old ceramic feel. Paper piecing on the flowers and a touch of Wink of Stella pen.  Love the look of the tone on tone background.  Gonna have to use this more. Thanks again for visiting. See you soon, Ang

House of Cards DT

I am so excited and honored to let you know that I am part of the House of Cards Challenge Design Team.  This is my first DT assignment and I am absolutely thrilled. Ang
